Safety of Windlu

Windlu reviews are lacking on the Forex Peace Army (FPA) platform, as the firm has not yet been added to the website. On Trustpilot, Windlu has around 100 reviews and the majority of them (87%) are super positive, evaluating the firm with 5 stars. This is a very important indication of the firm’s safety and reliability. When it comes to experience, the firm was launched in 2023 which makes it fairly inexperienced in the prop trading industry. The firm does not disclose any information about its partner brokers, and we assume its trading services are not backed by regulated brokers, which is typically a serious red flag.

The firm gets a 1.5 score in this section.

Windlu funding and maximum capital allocation

Windlu funded programs are diverse and include both USD and ZAR-denominated challenges. With ZAR accounts traders get funded in South African rand while USD accounts are traditional challenges with USD funds. The ZAR challenges are two, instant, and 1-step. These accounts are divided into subaccounts with different names according to their funded amount, including Express, Standard, Advanced, and Supreme. The list of Instant ZAR Windlu funding options includes 10k, 25k, 50k, and 75k Rand. The list of ZAR 1-step Windlu challenge funded options are 10k, 100k, 250k, and 1 million ZAR. The USD account is a 2-step challenge with funded options of 10k, 25k, and 100k USD amounts.

Windlu scaling plan is available and traders can grow their funded accounts, which is very flexible.

As a result of offering diverse account challenges, the firm gets a 4 score in this section.

Windlu Assets

Windlu prop trading assets are diverse and include popular markets such as Forex pairs, commodities (energies, metals), index CFDs, and cryptos. The leverage varies depending on the funded account type and phase. The instant challenges offer 1:30, express evaluations have up to 1:100, and the 2-step accounts have up to 1:100. The firm does not allow access to other markets like stocks, futures, and options, which is a minor drawback.

For offering access to a decent range of assets and instruments, the firm manages to get a 3.5 score in this section.

Windlu Trading rules and limitations

Windlu rules are slightly different for instant and all other accounts. The ZAR and USD challenges are mostly 2-step accounts, except for the ZAR Express (10k ZAR) challenge, which is a 1-step account.

The rules for the instant ZAR Windlu challenges:

  • Profit target - None
  • Daily loss limit - 4%
  • Maximum drawdown - 6%
  • Minimum trading days - 0
  • Available leverage - Currencies - 1:30, Commodities - 1:12, Indices - 1:30, Crypto - 1:2

The rules for all other funded accounts offered by the Windlu prop:

  • Profit target - 5-8% (phase 1 and 2)
  • Daily loss limit - 5%
  • Maximum drawdown - 12%
  • Minimum trading days - 5 days
  • Available leverage - 1:100 (1:30 Funded) (1:1000 for the 1-step challenge)

As we can see, the rules for the instant challenges are strict as usual, but the maximum drawdown is very attractive on the 2-step accounts. The profit target is only 5% for the 1-step challenge (Express), which is super competitive. If the funded account is inactive for 30 days, it will be automatically breached, something which all traders should take into account. Expert Advisors (EAs) are prohibited, and Windlu does not allow HFT (High-Frequency Trading) as well.

Overall, the firm gets a 1 score in this section.

The ZAR challenges start from 56 USD for the 10k accounts, and USD challenges have a minimum one-time fee of 99 USD for the smallest 10k USD challenge.

Windlu free trial is not offered, which is a downside as traders can not check trading conditions before purchasing the challenge. Windlu free repeat is not offered either, which is also a minor drawback. Spreads are not zero. Withdrawals have zero fees, which is flexible.
